He wasn't expecting to be pushed away. He forcibly took two steps back and didn't come forward anymore. Instead, he poured his eyes into mine.
The air was filled with viscous coldness. I thought that he would be enraged and yell at me.
Surprisingly, he didn't!
We locked eyes and stared at each other for the longest time. Then, he suddenly tore his gaze away before leaving.
I didn't know how all this happened. He did treat me well, and he did care for me. I knew all this and yet, how did things turn out this way?
Drop by drop, my tears fell to the ground.
Before he left the bedroom, I stepped forward and abruptly hugged him from the back. I then pleaded hoarsely, "Don't go!"
His body stiffened as he stopped in his tracks, allowing me to freely hold him in my arms.
"I'm sorry!" I cried as I buried my head on his back.
He was silent. He didn't utter a word to me, as if he was waiting for me to speak.
After a long while, he held onto my hands which were snaked tightly around his waist. Then, he turned towards me and stared at me emotionless. "If you're asking me to stay just because you want to apologize, then that's not necessary."
I looked at his well-defined face, and I let myself gaze at him for a while longer.
He raised his hand to tuck a few loose strands of hair behind my ear. He lowered his head and planted a light kiss on my lips. "Stop bothering yourself with the Granger and Miller family affairs."
I was surprised by his actions and quickly withdrew my hands. He immediately reached out to pull my hands into his palm. He nudged, "Hmm?"
The Granger family's matters had nothing to do with me. Even when it came to the Miller family's affairs, it was unnecessary for me to bother myself with it as well.
However, Hendrix's idea of not meddling in their affairs and my idea of it were completely different. I owed Irvin my life. Thus, if anything were to happen to the two elders of the Miller family or if they ever needed me, I would definitely be there for them.
In short, there was no way I could ignore them.
"Hendrix!" I withdrew my hand from his and said,
