My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 537

Nerissa nearly sat on the floor when she saw Haward, who had been beaten miserably.

Hendrix pinched the muscle between his eyebrows. Then he looked at Haward and said, "Repeat what you just said."

Haward was relieved knowing his family members were safe. His mind became clearer as he calmed down.

"Five days ago, I was requested by Madam Roberts to carry out a mission. In return, she would give me 30,000 dollars. Normally, I wouldn't have agreed to do that. But my fiancee is pregnant. Her parents had asked for 300,000 dollars worth of betrothal gifts. If I can't give them the money, they will take the baby away."

He took a heavy breath and continued, "My parents have been farmers for their whole life. They had recently borrowed a lot of money to build a new house so they cannot afford it. I agreed to take on the mission because of the money."

"Nonsense!" Nerissa went furious, "You're lying. I didn't call you. I didn't give you the money."

Haward looked at her and said, "You put 300,000 dollars cash in the Sapphire Ferrari. The money is still in the car. The car key was placed at the corner of the Granger Manor's gate because you were afraid of being discovered."

"I haven't used the money at all. You can see it for yourself. There's no need for me to lie!"

Hendrix looked at Evan and he didn't say anything. Evan nodded and said, "We found 300,000 dollars without serial numbers in the car. We were unable to trace the origin as it was not withdrawn from the bank."

Nerissa looked at Hendrix, nearly broke down, "Hendrix, I'm your aunt. I have no reason to harm your wife. You can't take his words for real."

Evan went forward and handed a mobile phone to Hendrix. He said, "Miss Nerissa met Miss Andrea once at Ucrebury."

Hendrix turned to look at Nerissa after checking the call history. He asked coldly, "Why did you come to Ucrebury?"

Nerissa's face turned pale. She answered, "I... I'm here to see father."

"Why did you meet Andrea?" Hendrix was getting impatient.
