At noon!
Cecil stopped arguing with me and had gone home instead, likely because she was in a foul mood.
I did not notice it when Evan showed up at the door of the office. I turned my gaze towards the door when I heard my female colleagues squealing amongst themselves.
"Miss Reid, can we talk privately?" Evan said with a look of calmness and seriousness on his face.
Noticing the curious eyes around us, I pursed my lips and nodded.
We walked out of the office, and arrived somewhere where no one was around. I stopped in my tracks and asked, "Evan, what would you like to talk about?"
He pursed his lips. "Mr. Roberts wants to see you."
My first instinct was to reject him but after a pause, I nodded. "Where is he?"
"At the hotel parking lot!"
I nodded. "Okay, I got it!"
When he saw that I was heading back to the office, he continued, "Miss Reid, Mr. Roberts is
waiting for you downstairs."
I...
I looked back at him, slightly annoyed. "I know. I'm going to get my bag!"
He was surprised but he did not look embarrassed at all. He just nodded and said, "I'll wait for you here."
"As you wish!"
The two of them had worked alongside one another for so long that they practically had the same habits and way of doing things.
I grabbed my bag and walked out of the office. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw me walking out. It seemed like he was afraid that I would leave straight away.
In the parking lot.
The door of the black S-class Mercedes car had been opened and Evan muttered some halfhearted excuse to leave halfway through.
When I got in the car, I saw the man's head hung low as he carefully read through the documents in his hand. His every move was elegant and reserved as his gaze darted from word to word.
