I frowned and said nothing more. Had Hendrix become softer and gentler? Not at all. In fact, for the past four years, his methods became more insidious and cruel.
However, he became better at concealing his emotions compared to before. He gave all his warmth and love to me, which was also the only warmth he had.
Back at the villa, Anne was squatting in the yard, playing with a furry poodle.
I was stunned. I couldn't help but turn toward Hendrix's direction and said, "Did you bring her here?"
He nodded and replied, "After I finished the work here, I went back to Jarold City. I've already arranged a school for Anne. We'll take her with us to have fun during this period of time."
Seeing that we had returned, Anne rushed over to me and said excitedly, "Mom, can I keep it?"
She pointed and gestured at the brown poodle. It looked like it was about three months old, still a small puppy.
I frowned and was about to turn her down when Hendrix spoke, "Once you're busy in the future, it can accompany Anne. She needs companions, after all."
After coming back from Hovell, Anne seemed to have become quieter. Before, when she was with Bennett, she would always run her mouth. However, after leaving Hovell, she seemed to have less things to say.
It was good to let her raise a dog, since she had to change environments so suddenly and she had no friends.
I nodded in agreement.
The food had already been prepared. Minnie Parker was old and had retired, so Hendrix hired a new servant.
It was a middle-aged woman whose name was Rosa.
It didn't take long for Evan to come over. Hendrix sat in the living room without any intention to avoid him.
Evan sounded a little nervous but still he said, "Mr. Roberts, I was negligent on today's matters. What are you going to do about Sierra Noland?"
Hendrix was fiddling with his phone as he spoke with a hint of coldness in his tone, "She is already considered unqualified as a star. Since she has been popular for four years, it's time to give the younger people a chance."
Evan froze for a second before nodding and said, "Okay, how should I deal with her mother, Sammy Clark?"
