My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 669

I looked at him blankly. I had forgotten that it was late autumn and the weather was getting cold.

As I looked at him, I felt a little melancholic. Then, I held his waist and snuggled in his embrace. In a soft voice, I implored, "Hendrix, stay with me for a while."

As his annoyance dissipated, he gazed at me with a gentle look. He frowned and asked, "What's wrong?"

I let out a sigh as I felt severe pain in my head. "Nothing, just stay with me for a while."

I left Hovell for Jarold City, in hopes that things would pan out positively. But somehow, I had let both Irvin and Josiah down.

Having raised Anne for four years, I had naturally regarded her as my own child. The memory of my own child's death had started to peter out ever since she came into my life. But in the days following my return to Jarold City, almost everyone kept reminding me that I had a painful past with Hendrix and that I should move past it.

He looked at me like he understood how I felt. Mirroring my silence and reticence, he held me firmly in his arms.

With time, our courage had been emptied out by memories as we marched closer and closer to the final days of our life.

Josiah frequently met with Anne lately. Each time they met, their bond grew stronger.

I was worried she would eventually get closer to him.

November in Jarold City saw its streets grow colder. One weekend, Anne was playing with the dog in the courtyard after Josiah took his leave after visiting her.

I sat by her side and watched as she played with the dog. There was an unfathomable feeling in my heart as I looked at her.

Sensing that I had been sitting for quite a while, she turned around and looked at me, her eyes twinkled with excitement. "Mom, come play with Snowball, okay?"

My eyes felt heavy. I shook my head and replied, "You play with him, I'll watch."
