My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 735

I paused for a while, then said, "I'll not meddle with anything that has to do with the Granger Group and Irvin. If you think of me as a true friend, then please, don't force me into something that goes against my principles. I have no interest in business, and I will not do Hendrix wrong."

After I hung up, I tried to collect myself for a while. I saw that Anne was fast asleep behind me.

I was supposed to take my postgraduate finals, but after procrastinating, I've missed the exams, so I was rather free now.

In the evening.

Hendrix came back, looking incredibly tired. My guess was that he was drunk the entire night.

I was neck deep in my pool of thoughts when he walked into the living room. He placed the keys down then approached me to give me a hug. He murmured softly, "Why didn't you call me?"

I was surprised to hear that, and I looked back at him. My gaze landed on the stubble he had. He hadn't been shaving. "I was worried that you're busy. I didn't want to disturb you."

He tucked his head on my shoulder, "Nothing is more important than you."

"What's for dinner?" He asked while looking around the living room, "Where's Anne?"

"She's sleeping in the bedroom. She had a fever this morning." I pondered about asking him about Irvin.

He nodded and held me in his arms. "Josiah stopped by?"

I mumbled a 'yes'. After a moment of silence, I raised my head and looked up at him, "I saw the news this morning. The Roberts Group purchased a lot of Fantasia's shares. Is the company planning to expand into Artificial Intelligence?"

I was beating around the bush. However, this man was too smart and observant to not know what I was trying to ask.

Hendrix's face turned dark immediately. "Who called you?"

In that split second, he realized his tone was too harsh, so he pulled himself together for a moment and said again, "I will take care of the business. Don't worry about it."

His words were very gentle, but it was obvious that he wasn't willing to talk further about it.

I got his message. He didn't want me to get involved. Men were capable of handling matters their way.
