My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 737

I didn't understand her, so I said, "Tell me everything, then we'll sort it out."

I thought that my tone was adequately calm.

However, she still spat back in disdain, "You used the profit Advancer Tech has been gaining all these years to help Irvin turn his business around. But have you ever considered that this money and action of yours can be used against Irvin? This was obviously an illegal loan! Now that the news is out, the Granger Group shares are plummeting, and the Grangers will soon be a laughing stock. We will never survive this. Arianna, you're despicable."

I frowned, "What do you mean it was an illegal loan?"

The profits from Advancer Tech had always been in my account. I never used them in all these years. If it weren't for my need to repay Irvin's kindness, I would not have used the money at all.

"That money was Advancer Tech's official earnings. How did it become an illegal loan?"

"You'll need to ask your husband," she sneered. "You two are really something. One is acting innocent while the other pretends to be all righteous but stabs us in the back, not even letting us off for one bit." What she said got me confused.

I was silent for a while before telling her, "If the Granger Group is having problems because of this money, I'll take care of it. It's getting late. Please head home."

After all, we were friends before. It was inappropriate to say more.

She was still pregnant, so I couldn't blame her for getting worked up over this.

After sending her off, I went to the study and found Hendrix smoking on the balcony.

Pungent smoke filled the room. I looked at the time.

I stood behind him and asked, "It's already eleven. Don't you want to get some shut-eye?"

He didn't answer. He had his back facing me; things felt distant and hostile.

As my gaze fell on the table, I saw the same contract.
