My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 780

Evan was a sharp- eyed man. He looked at the both of us and left promptly.

Rowane stood in the conference room with an unhappy expression on her face. She continued to speak, "Mr. Roberts, our meeting is not over yet. Isn't it inappropriate for your wife to barge in like this?"

Hendrix hugged me and said in a low and contemplative voice, "Office hours are over. You should head back first. We can continue this tomorrow."

She looked upset hearing that, and was going to say something else.

However, Hendrix interrupted her, "Miss Zanes, you live alone, so you do not have to think about your loved ones and your parents, but I do. I have my wife and child whom I have to be with after work. Thank you for your sincerity and dedication at work. Evan will inform the finance department of your overtime salary. It's getting late, you should go!"

These words firmly blocked her desire to stay.

I ignored her. Feeling the pang of hunger in my stomach, I pulled Hendrix aside and said, "I asked Evan to order us some steak. Are you hungry? Let's go and have dinner."

He smiled warmly at me. "My wife knows me the best."

Ignoring Rowane's grim face, Hendrix and I went straight into his office.

Evan had already brought his meal into his own office.

Only the both of us were left. We sat down and Hendrix started cutting the steak. He looked at me and said apologetically, "This won't happen again."

I was stunned for a moment. I looked up at him, not really understanding what he meant. "What do you mean?"

With a faint smile, he placed the sliced beef in front of me and said with a faint smile, "I'll make sure meetings don't end this late in the future."

I shrugged, "It's fine. It's work after all." Thinking of what I heard outside the conference room, I paused slightly and said, "Are you not going to continue developing the Al project?"
