It rarely snowed in Hanlusia City, but it was always drizzling, making it hard to walk on the muddy ground in the suburbs.
The police had already closed off the area. As soon as we arrived at the entrance of the factory, a middle-aged man in uniform came out to greet us.
Looking at Charles, he said, "Master Reid, you're finally here. We've been looking everywhere for the past two days. All the traffic routes in Hanlusia City have been severely guarded. We've swept through all the factories in Hanlusia City since yesterday but we couldn't find the child, but we found a white puppy. Go in and take a look first. See if it's the one which the child was walking when she got lost."
Charles nodded his head and didn't say anything else. He contemplated as he walked. My legs were wobbling as I panicked on the inside.
Everything in the factory was old and worn out. It seemed to be a place that had been abandoned for a long time.
We hurriedly followed the police into the inner part of the factory. There were a lot of old things around. Although precautions had already been made, lots of parts still seemed as though they were about to crumble apart.
"How did you find the puppy?" Hendrix asked, glancing around the old factory.
The leader of the men noted the impressive look on his face and replied, "We found a lot of footprints in one of our search and rescue operations, hence we followed them here."
Hendrix nodded. "It hasn't been long since the rain started. We can continue to track the footprints nearby," he replied.
The leader shook his head and said with a sigh, "That was what we thought at first, but after we found the footprints, a lot of stray dogs appeared in the vicinity. In addition to the rain, the footprints were basically destroyed. Most of the areas around here are farmlands, it's not easy to investigate."
After entering the factory, the leader looked at Charles and said, "Master Reid, take a look. It's this one. Is it the puppy that was with the child when she got lost?"
Charles naturally failed to recognize Snowball. He turned to me and said, "Arianna, come take a look."
My legs were a little weak. Ever since I had entered the scene, my whole body had begun to
tremble.
Seeing the lifeless Snowball lying on the ground, it felt as though all my strength had been drained from my body in an instant, and I collapsed.
