My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 823

The doctor obviously knew that I was conscious, and that was why he had explained the situation to me. I thought about his words, then understood that my face had probably been injured, and so my eye was inevitably hurt too.

However, why hadn't I felt pain to begin with? Things had probably happened too quickly, causing me to be unable to feel any sort of sensation.

The doctor left. A nurse gave me an intravenous drip. She took my hand and patted it several times but failed to find a protruding vein. She looked up at me and said, "Miss, please clench your fist."

I clenched my fist. She looked around the back of my hand carefully and found a vein. Then, she took a long, thin syringe and pushed the air out of the tube, causing the sound of liquid to come out of it.

When I saw that she was going to stab it in, I turned my face away, and my muscles started to ache too. Truth be told, I was quite afraid of pain.

"All done!" The nurse told me to notify that she was done with it as she had probably noticed my cowardice.

I relaxed and looked back at the needle that had been plunged into the back of my left hand. I saw that the blood vessel on the back of my hand was bulging and it still felt a little painful.

I couldn't help but ask, "Miss, have you inserted it into the wrong vein? The blood seems to be flowing backwards."

I wasn't spouting nonsense, because the liquid in the infusion tube had turned red from its original white.

The nurse turned around and was stunned for a moment. She tried to pull out the needle that had been stuck in, and blood came out with it.

She cleaned the wound with iodine and said, "Press on it for a while."

I raised my right hand to press on the wound. I thought that human vessels were such complicated things. They were all made to transport blood, but it was easy to make mistakes.

Perhaps, due to the fact that it was the wrong vessel, the place where the tube had originally been inserted was bruised. Blood wasn't squirting out of the wound, but the bruise on the back of my hand was quite glaring.

I threw the cotton swab into the trash can. The nurse had also noticed the bulging bruise on the back of my hand and slightly frowned. She looked sorry, but she didn't apologize.
