My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 850

I frowned faintly and paused for a moment before continuing, "I didn't get the box from auctions. It's just a keepsake left by my grandmother."

Elmore's face was slightly stunned for a moment before he smiled again, looking at me as he said, "In that case, I guess Miss Reid must be from a noble family. Ordinary families won't be able to afford to hire top-notch carpenters to make this box."

Speaking of that, he frowned slightly and said thoughtfully, "Although I'm not a native of Ucrebury, I'm still quite familiar with Ucrebury. I don't think I have heard of the Reid family in Ucrebury before!"

I smiled faintly and glanced at Evan. He understood what I meant. Then, he looked at Elmore and said, "Mr. Balton, you're thinking too much into this. We're just an insignificant family. Although this box was left behind by our ancestors, we don't know if the box you bought is actually the Twin Box, so we still have yet to confirm it."

"By the way, it's getting late. We have to go back now."

Elmore's brows furrowed slightly as he looked at me and said, "Miss Reid, you..."

I smiled lightly and said, "I'm really sorry. I need to go back and take care of my kids."

With that, I got up. Elmore seemed to have something more to say, but when he saw that I was prepared to leave, he kept quiet.

We got in the car after getting out of the museum. After starting the car engine, Evan took a sidelong glance in the rearview mirror. The corner of his mouth was raised in a smile full of disdain when he saw the car following us.

I took a look and found that the driver in the car was Elmore. I asked lightly, "Have you conducted a background check on Mr. Balton?"

Evan shook his head and replied, "I don't have any information on him yet, but we'll know who he is later."

Looking at the Maybach that was following us, I couldn't help frowning slightly, "There must be someone else above him."

Evan nodded.

What puzzled me was the reason why Elmore was trying to trick me into telling him what he wanted.

"Are they trying to dig something out of me?" I asked, perplexed.
