She pouted and after a moment, she looked at me and said, "When are you and Hendrix planning to have your second baby? You've been back in Jarold City for so long, so why haven't you gotten pregnant yet? Please tell me it's not because Hendrix is too old and can't make babies!"
I was rendered speechless for a moment. Then, I laughed and said, "He's only thirty-five. Why can't he do it? Don't talk nonsense."
She rested her head on her hands and asked, "Then, why not have a second child?"
I smiled, "Just Anne is enough." I thought to myself, "Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to do that."
She frowned, "Arianna, Hendrix is a man though. Although the elders of the Roberts Family haven't given him pressure, they will still be worried. You should take him into account and go have a baby as soon as possible!"
I clenched my fists. Then, I looked at her and asked, "Why are there so many people from the Moore Family even though it isn't time for the baby shower yet?"
Seeing that I had changed the topic, she pursed her lips and said, "The tradition in Jarold City is to send gifts. Usually, the gifts are just from relatives and friends. They'll bring toys and nutritional products over to visit us."
I nodded and heaved a sigh of relief, finally steering the conversation away from the subject.
After chatting for a while, Freya was so tired that she couldn't help but fall asleep. Just then, the child woke up.
When the little fellow woke up, he opened his eyes wide open and looked around, proceeded to kick his little feet a few times.
"The young master likes doing this. He's much smarter than other newborn babies!" the nanny said with a smile as she walked in.
I smiled and looked at the child, my heart melting. I reached out to touch his little hand, and the little fellow responded by reaching to grab on to my finger tightly.
It took care to be especially gentle with him. Time spent with the baby was peaceful and quiet accompanied with warmth and a sense of steady security.
When Valerie came in, I was still in a daze. I only came to my senses when she talked to me.
"Arianna, we've made pork ribs, stir fried eggplant and fruit cakes. They're all your favorites. Let's eat
first. We can come back later to check them out."
