Seeing him smile, I couldn't help but laugh. "But that might not be enough. You probably don't understand the Milton Group commission system. The Milton Group has always been generous to employees, and they give 20% of the money for the project to the person in charge. Hendrix's investment in this project should be at least ten million dollars. I don't need to bother with just the down payment anymore. With that commission, I could even buy the whole house at once, don't you think?"
The smile on his face suddenly froze. He squinted his eyes at me, and said in a cold voice, "You will get twenty thousand dollars just from this favor. Miss Reid, do you know what happens when a woman gets greedy?"
I smiled slightly and said, "Oscar, how could you say that? I am not greedy. Hendrix and I have prior history, and so Milton Group should have an upper hand. Hence, I'd benefit them, but I'd benefit myself too. But in your case, if I take your money now, I would have betrayed my company for a paltry sum, disregarding future benefits. I would not be able to get a job in this industry anymore! Does it not make sense?"
As I spoke, I pushed the bank card back to him with a smile. "Oscar, please investigate your target's background next time before attempt bribery. Don't pull such a ridiculous stunt again."
It was getting late. I got up and went straight into the auction room, not looking at Oscar.
In the hall, Sebastian's tall figure caught my eye. I walked to him and asked lightly, "How sure are you about this project?"
He raised his eyebrows and looked at me. "Shouldn't I be the one to ask you such a question?"
I pursed my lips, "You must have prepared this project for at least a few weeks prior. Linda should have been managing it before you decided to take advantage of me!"
He glanced sideways at me without saying a word, motioning for me to sit next to him. After a moment of silence, he said, "It doesn't seem like I'll get much use out of you for this."
I shrugged and said, "I agree!" After all, I had just said such harsh words to Hendrix earlier that afternoon. It was impossible for me to get close to him now.
