Hearing the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, Nicole's thudding heart slowly settled down. The situation almost got out of control, so Nicole's feelings were all over the place. She frequently lost herself in Jared, convinced she had no defenses against his presence.

Although his mother and Lawrence could not be together, Nicole said that Lawrence was her good friend. That meant that Lawrence would always be their godfather.
