Zion took off his coat and wrapped it around Maeve, pulling her protectively into his arms.

"Sergio, you really are despicable." Zion's voice cut through the tension, cold and laced with anger.

Outside the door, Zayla arrived. She was breathless from trying to keep up with Zion, who had sprinted up the stairs without a second thought.

"Ms. Scott!" Zayla entered the room, saying, "I've already called the police. They'll be here soon."

"You called the police?" Sergio's eyes narrowed as he sneered at Zion. "Are you out of your mind?"

Zion, calling the police? Everyone knew he was neck-deep in shady dealings. How could Zion risk involving the cops?

Maeve was shocked. She scolded in a low voice, "Zion, do you know what you're doing?"

She wasn't sure if Zion's illegal industry had reached Seathburn City. If they had, him calling the police was dangerously reckless. Zion had been in the underworld for years and should know better.

"A CEO kidnaps his wife in the middle of the night, attempts rape, and gets arrested. I suppose that headline will be all over the front page news tomorrow." Zion's voice was cold, sending a shiver through Sergio.

Sergio believed this kind of scorched-earth tactic to be the work of classic Zion.

"Mr. Brooks, the police are here! You need to leave now!" Larry rushed over to warn him, but it was too late.

Sergio's expression turned grim as he shot a cold glance at Zion.

The police arrived, and the lights were turned on. One officer looked at Sergio, asking, "Are you Sergio Brooks? We received a report about kidnapping and attempted rape."

"Yes," Sergio replied, his gaze fixated on Maeve, who was nestled in Zion's arms, not sparing a glance at him.
