A Widow's Poison A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 570

Whenever Faraday spoke to Darleen, his mother would back off for a good while. That was why, after Faraday died, Starla had initially said nothing when Fairfax offered to help care for his brother’s family.

It was only when Brinley’s behavior grew increasingly suspicious, with Darleen following suit, that the simmering fire within Starla could no longer be contained. Her idea of “caring” for the family was a world away from what they were demanding.

If the child was truly Faraday’s, she would save him. But if he wasn’t… that was a different story entirely.

“You… you can’t insult me like this!” Brinley trembled with a mixture of anger and fear.

“Let’s do a paternity test. How about it?”

At the words “paternity test,” dread went straight through Brinley. She shook her head frantically. “The child is Faraday’s.”

“So you’re not willing?” Starla didn’t argue the point, simply pressing Brinley for an answer.

How could Brinley possibly agree? She knew better than anyone whose child it really was.

Seeing Brinley’s face drain of all color, Starla repeated her offer. “I said, if he’s Faraday’s child, I’ll save his life. You won’t even agree to that?”

Outside the door, Fairfax waited for Brinley’s response, his heart pounding in his throat. His eyes were bloodshot with fury. He had never once questioned the child’s paternity, not even after seeing Brinley get into Felix’s car. But now… hearing this exchange, the foundation of his belief crumbled.

Brinley’s voice was an unsteady whisper. “The child is Faraday’s.”

“That’s not for you to say. I want to see the test results.”
