A Widow's Poison A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 600

Tanya’s words were a direct humiliation, and his eyes narrowed dangerously.

Darian tried to signal for Tanya to stop, but she ignored him completely. Instead, she turned on Darian with a snort. “Your taste in friends is truly awful. You’ll be friends with any dog. Does that mean you want to be a dog too?”

“Hey, that’s not—” Darian was stunned. He hadn’t expected her to be so blunt.

Fairfax’s face had turned a shade of livid green.

“Stop the car,” he bit out, his voice cold as ice. The presence of Tanya made it impossible for him to remain in the vehicle a second longer.

“Fairfax, don’t be angry. Tanya didn’t mean you,” Darian said, trying to smooth things over.

“Oh, I meant him!” Tanya shot back. “You pick up any stray dog you find. I’m not riding in this car again if you keep it up!”

Tanya was still furious with Fairfax and wasn’t about to give him any quarter.

“Stop the car!” Fairfax repeated through clenched teeth. A wave of oppressive fury rolled off him, filling the small space with tension.

His palms sweating, Darian finally pulled over to the side of the road. “Fairfax, I…” He trailed off, unsure of what to say.

But Fairfax wasn’t waiting for an explanation. He shoved the door open, stormed out, and slammed it shut with a resounding bang.

Darian glanced at Tanya with a sigh. “With a temper like that, you must have gotten into a lot of trouble before, haven’t you?”

“Are you defending him?” Tanya demanded, annoyed that he had driven away so quickly. She had wanted to yell a few more insults.

“He’s my friend,” Darian said, his tone placating. “I know you hate him because of what happened to Starla, but he…” He paused, then added, “He doesn’t have those kinds of feelings for Brinley. He only took care of them because of his brother, Faraday.”

They all knew that was true. But…

“Right. He took care of Brinley because of Faraday,” Tanya retorted, her voice dripping with scorn. “And because of Faraday, he refused to hold Brinley accountable after she caused the death of Starla’s child. That kind of brotherly devotion is disgusting.”

Darian fell silent, unable to argue. On the matter of Brinley causing Starla’s miscarriage, he and Caden had also agreed that Fairfax’s handling of the situation had been completely wrong.
