A Widow's Poison A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 648

Darian didn't know what else to say. It was a twisted twist of fate.

"History?" The bitter smile returned to Fairfax's lips.

"No. It's not history. It's a curse. A karmic retribution aimed straight at the Yelchin family."

Caden and Darian fell completely silent.

There was nothing to argue with. If Starla's mother had died because of the Yelchins, then her entire marriage to Fairfax had been a ticking time bomb. And it had finally detonated, leveling the family.

"Alright, that's enough," Caden said, finally reaching over to snatch the bottle as Fairfax brought it straight to his lips.

Fairfax shot him a dark look. "You need to figure out how to resolve this," Caden advised.

"Do you honestly think there's a resolution to this?"

Caden's heart skipped a beat. Was it resolvable? Obviously not.

"No," he admitted with a heavy sigh.

There was no easy fix. Actually, there was no fix at all. Darleen had murdered her mother. Anyone with a pulse would know there's no coming back from that. It was the kind of blood feud that defied all negotiation.

Fairfax let out a dark chuckle. "Exactly. It can't be fixed."

His life with Starla was permanently over.

All their beautiful memories flickered through his mind like an old film reel, only to be violently cut short by an imaginary scene of blood and death. He hadn't been there when her mother died, but his mind vividly supplied the horror of it anyway. He knew with absolute certainty that it was finished.

Caden and Darian exchanged another glance.
