A Widow's Poison A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 651

That night, Fairfax drank heavily. He started out at a bar, braving the bitter cold, but eventually ended up back at the Yelchin Group headquarters.

"Starla... Starla... Starla," he muttered endlessly in his drunken stupor.

Caden and Darian exchanged a look. They had a few drinks themselves, but hearing Fairfax obsessively call his wife’s name only deepened their contempt for him.

"Now you know to call for her?" Caden scoffed. "Too bad she’s not waiting around for you anymore."

That was the most agonizing truth of all. Starla was long gone.

Darian nodded, his buzz making him blunt. "Exactly. If you ask me, you had countless chances to turn things around, but you never took them. You're not going to get another one."

Alcohol had a way of stripping away the polite filters, guiding the knife right to where it hurt the most. But Fairfax was too far gone to comprehend it. He just kept chanting Starla’s name. The repetitive, desperate sound sobered Caden and Darian up real quick.

Looking around the executive suite, Darian sighed. "Well, this is his office. Should we just leave him here? There’s a bedroom attached."

It seemed like the logical choice, except for the current war raging between him and his wife.

"Are you crazy?" Caden shot back. "Do you think Starla won't literally burn this building down if we do?"
