A Widow's Poison A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 664

But now, nothing was adding up.

Before the truth had come out, maintaining the illusion was obviously the core of his strategy. But things were different now. The Yelchins knew everything. His master plan should have been torn to shreds.

Unless... Felix was hiding another agenda she knew nothing about?

"Didn't I already tell you everything?" Felix shot back defensively.

"Are you playing me? Do I look like an idiot to you?!" Brinley exploded.

There had to be something else. He was definitely keeping her in the dark about something.

"You're not an idiot," Felix sneered, his tone turning mockingly cruel. "When it came down to your kid's life or yours, you knew exactly how to save your own skin. You're brilliant."

Realizing he couldn't force her hand, he resorted to bitter sarcasm. Each caustic word made Brinley feel like she was suffocating.

...

Inside the house, Starla had just finished her breakfast. She set her mug down and glanced at Garret.

"Why do you think she's still begging me to save the kid, even after everything blew up?"

If it was purely out of maternal instinct... well, Brinley might possess a shred of a mother's love, but it was practically microscopic.

"Could it be because Felix wants the child alive?" Garret suggested. "After all, her only hope for a future is tied to the Fowler family."

The Yelchins were done with her, and Harriet Seabrook hadn't sent any good news about resolving her issues over in Yoran Country. Brinley's entire safety net now relied on the Fowlers. With her back against the wall, she would jump the second Felix said 'jump'.

"So you see it too?" Starla smiled.
