Waiting is always the longest, most agonizing torture.
Soon, another three days passed.
Yes, exactly three days.
Darleen and Xenia were losing their minds.
It had been a full six days since they called Mrs. Shipley!
Yet, Starla was still parading around the Yelchin estate like she owned the place.
She even met with Herbert Farley every day, completely unbothered, showing zero signs of facing any retaliation from Mrs. Shipley.
"Mom, what the hell is going on?" Xenia demanded. "Why hasn't Mrs. Shipley shown up yet?"
They had said three days at most!
It had been another three days. Where was she?
Darleen's initial malicious excitement had curdled into deep, gnawing anxiety.
At Xenia's question, her face darkened. "I'd like to know that myself."
"Considering how fiercely Kael Shipley protects Starla, she's practically his wife's ultimate rival. How could Mrs. Shipley not come deal with her personally?" Darleen muttered, frustrated.
Damn it...
It had been so long. Was Mrs. Shipley really not worried at all?
"Should you call her again?" Xenia suggested.
Darleen hesitated.
But the suspense was killing them. They desperately needed to know what was happening on Mrs. Shipley's end.
"Fine, I'll call and see."
Originally, they figured a simple tip-off would be enough. Calling back to check on a woman of that status felt intrusive.
But Darleen couldn't care less right now!
She just wanted to know why Mrs. Shipley hadn't arrived to destroy Starla. They had been waiting with bated breath!
The call connected quickly. Mrs. Shipley's voice came through. "Hello."
