With the last of the funds secured, Yvette glared at Starla.
"Are we done now?" she asked through gritted teeth.
"Yes. Everything is in order."
"So it's over?"
"It's over," Starla confirmed with a satisfied nod. She had everything she wanted.
She stood up and looked at Garret. "Bring in the security team. It's time to clear the trash out of my house."
Yvette frowned, confused. "Aren't you leaving?"
"I think you misunderstood," Starla said, her eyes flashing. "The Yelchin Estate belongs to me now. The name on the deed has changed."
Yvette remembered seeing the estate transfer in the paperwork, but it hadn't clicked until now. Starla was going to physically evict the family from their own ancestral home.
"You are a monster," Yvette hissed.
"The war is over. Don't worry, I won't be burning down anyone else's houses," Starla replied smoothly.
Now that she was done, anyone in the city was free to take the Yelchins in. But they'd be doing it for free, because the Yelchins couldn't afford to pay them a dime in return.
...
Down in the lower levels, Darleen, Xenia, and Brinley received the eviction notice.
The three women turned pale with shock and fury. Darleen nearly fainted on the spot.
