She and John had only met once. As for the two hundred thousand she'd given him, it hadn't come directly from her. No one would be able to trace it back to her.
Her goal was to make Janina go into labor early. But through a twist of fate, the ambulance had taken her to the wrong hospital, making Yvonne wait for nothing. And that idiot Jensen didn't even tell her that Janina was at New Vista. Her plan to use the birth to her advantage had been completely derailed by a single mistake.
Yvonne’s face clouded over. She was seething at John. He should have just let Janina die in that crash. That would’ve taken care of everything in one go: her scheme would’ve worked, and John would’ve ended up behind bars.
"Hah! You're trying to wash your hands of this? You think it's possible to just walk away clean?" John sneered, his words laced with sarcasm.
"If I hadn't accidentally found out the real reason you came back a year ago, I might have actually believed you were doing it all for love. You, in love with Julius? Tsk, tsk. What a joke. You've been playing a part for so long, you've started to believe it yourself, haven't you? The reason you came back to Clayborne City and found Julius was because you wanted to get something from Janina..."
"Shut up!" Before John could finish, Yvonne cut him off, her face contorted with rage.
Her expression changed instantly, and her body began to tremble slightly.
How could John know that? The only other person who knew was her mother, and she was certain her mother would never tell anyone. Where had he learned this? How much did this bastard know?
