Yvonne knew the aides' conversation would make Julius think of Janina. She couldn't let him find out about Janina giving birth yet—not now. So she brought it up herself, hoping to steer him away from thinking about it any further.

It worked. As soon as Yvonne spoke, Julius's face darkened. How would Janina ever tell him her due date? The last time they'd met, he had asked about it and gotten a bottle smashed over his head by Summer Quinn for his trouble.

It was clear Janina wanted nothing to do with him now.

He understood she was still angry. As long as he was with Yvonne, Janina would never forgive him. But he had his reasons. Yvonne was dying, and he was just trying to fulfill her final wish. Why couldn't Janina understand that? Why did she have to be so petty about Yvonne?

At that thought, any lingering hope Julius had for Janina extinguished. She could do whatever she wanted. His assistant, Wallace, was also useless. He'd been asked to look into Janina's situation and had come up with absolutely nothing.

"Why bring her up? Let's go get something to eat," Julius said, suppressing a wave of frustration and forcing a faint smile for Yvonne.

Seeing her plan had succeeded, Yvonne hid a flash of excitement in her eyes and quickly changed the subject.

"I'm finally out of the hospital, so I deserve a good meal. And don't you dare stop me, Julius. Today, I'm eating whatever I want."

Julius smiled indulgently. "Alright. Whatever you want."
