Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 265

"Because the man who kidnapped my friend had a 'K' tattooed on his chest."

Thinking of her old friend, Maggie felt a familiar pang of grief for the injustice of it all.

After her friend had escaped, she had been too young and traumatized to give the police any useful information during her statement.

But then, one day after school, her friend had grabbed her hand, looking terrified, and told her she'd remembered a detail about one of the kidnappers.

She said she thought she saw a tattoo on his chest, maybe the letter 'K,' but she wasn't sure.

They were just kids at the time and didn't think much of it.

Since she wasn't certain if it was a 'K' or some other symbol, they never reported it to the police.

A few days later, her friend collapsed. She was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with lung cancer. She died within days.

The kidnapper was never caught.

Maggie had almost forgotten about it, but seeing the tattoo on Thad's chest tonight brought her friend's words rushing back.

Janina was stunned. She never imagined the case would have such far-reaching connections.

"If he really is the kidnapper from all those years ago, he's probably involved in some dirty business. I'll give Kenneth a heads-up and see if he can dig up any leads."

Maggie leaned back on the sofa, finally relaxing as Wendy fed her pieces of fruit.

"That's all we can do for now. We can't go to the police without evidence."

Then, another thought occurred to Maggie.

"By the way, I had someone look into New Vista Medical Center. I found out a few things. It used to have a pretty bad reputation—the doctors weren't great, and the fees were exorbitant. It wasn't until Jensen arrived that the hospital's reputation started to improve."

Janina and Maggie then exchanged the information they had gathered so far.

What Maggie had found was similar to Kenneth's findings, just not as detailed. After all, Kenneth was a professional private investigator.

In the end, Maggie conceded. "Since Kenneth's contact is better than mine, I'll back off on my end to avoid tipping Jensen off."
