He looked up and met Janina's gaze, cool and amused, like she was just watching a show.
Julius frowned. It was Janina again.
Every time Yvonne encountered Janina, she got hurt. Yvonne had so little time left; why couldn't she just leave her alone?
Just moments ago, seeing Janina had brought a flicker of joy to his heart. Since the divorce, he had rarely seen her. But as he looked at the unconscious woman in his arms, that fleeting fondness vanished completely.
Just as Julius was about to lash out, Janina walked closer, her contemptuous and mocking gaze sweeping over them both. "Don't look at me like that. She fainted on her own. It has nothing to do with me."
The commotion had attracted a few onlookers, who watched curiously from a distance. Julius heard her words and felt a flicker of doubt. Seeing how calm Janina was, he wondered if he had misjudged her. But he had clearly seen Yvonne collapse, and Janina's face had been contorted with rage just a moment before. Something had definitely happened between them. And the fact remained that he saw Yvonne faint.
His anger flared again. Just today, his assistant had informed him that Janina had given birth to their twins. Even though they were divorced, the babies were his flesh and blood, and he had been overjoyed. He had already bought presents for them, planning to contact Janina to arrange a visit as soon as Yvonne's condition stabilized. And now this…
Julius's gaze grew darker, full of blame. "Janina, how could you attack a terminally ill patient? What will it take for you to finally leave her alone?"
His words made Janina laugh, a sound laced with heavy sarcasm. "Is your brain made of mush? You accuse me without even investigating what happened."
