Janina had no idea about the whirlwind of thoughts going through Yvonne's mind.
She was simply happy to see an old friend. "Ava, what are you doing here in person?"
Janina smiled and returned the hug, her peripheral vision catching Yvonne's clenched fists.
Then, she looked at Alan and deliberately raised her voice. "Alan, it's been a while."
Their interaction was the natural exchange of old friends.
But to Yvonne's eyes, it was something else entirely. She couldn't understand how Janina, a woman with no job and no connections, could know Ava and Alan!
And be so familiar with them!
At that moment, Julius recovered from his surprise and greeted Ava and Alan warmly before asking curiously, "So, you all know each other!"
Ava and Alan knew Julius was Janina's ex-husband, but they were unaware of the real reasons for their divorce, assuming it had been amicable.
So, out of courtesy to Janina, Ava nodded and replied with a smile.
"Yes, Nina and I are old friends. I came especially to support her today."
Hearing this, Julius's face froze for a second.
He had assumed all the guests today were here because of DL or himself.
Still, it was a good thing for Janina to be acquainted with someone of Ava's stature.
Meanwhile, the smile that had been forming on Yvonne's face slowly vanished upon hearing Ava's words.
She couldn't believe it. Ava was here for Janina!
Today was supposed to be her day, her showcase, with Janina as a minor supporting role. Yet Ava and Janina were old acquaintances.
Julius strode forward and blocked her path. "Janina, you... you should drop out of this launch. I'll compensate you. Name your price."
Janina looked at him as if he were an idiot.
"Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to tell me what to do?"
Her eyes were ice-cold.
Julius couldn't explain the truth to her right now. He just wanted to save her from the inevitable embarrassment.
He had to admit he still had feelings for Janina. He didn't want to see her get hurt, nor did he want to see her and Yvonne at odds.
If Janina voluntarily withdrew from the launch, he would compensate her fairly. He wouldn't let her suffer a loss.
His tone was firm. "If you start your own studio, when will you have time for the children? I'll give you money. Isn't it better to just be a full-time mom at home? Besides, with Nova Group and so many major brands out there, this path isn't easy. I'm telling you to quit for your own good."
