"Seriously? They're women, not men. We have a pure friendship. You can have both friendship and love. Why are you even bothered by this?"
She knew Finch was the jealous type, but she never thought he'd be jealous of her best friends.
She was already so careful at work, keeping her distance from male colleagues and avoiding conversations just so Finch wouldn't worry. What more did he want from her?
Finch freed a hand to grab hers, his tone possessive as he declared, "It doesn't matter. Your heart can only have me in it."
Wendy rubbed her temples wearily. She didn't say anything more; she just felt so tired.

Time flew by, and soon it was December.
Ever since establishing her own studio, Janina had been incredibly busy, leaving her with very little time to spend with her children.
Most mornings, Liam and Joy were still asleep when she left for work, and by the time she got home at night, the two kids were already in bed.
One day, Janina finally carved out some time to take the children to the hospital for their vaccinations.
After their check-up, they had just arrived back home when they ran into Julius and his mother, Elena Quinn, who were already waiting at the door.
The sight of these two unwelcome people made Janina's anger flare up instantly.
Before she could say anything, Elena approached with a smile. "Nina, long time no see."
She sounded so familiar, even shortening her name from Janina to Nina. Anyone who didn't know better would think they were close.
When Elena saw the two children in the stroller, her eyes lit up.
"Oh, my, so these are my grandchildren! Grandma has come to see you..."
"I apologize for taking so long to visit. I didn't even know you two had separated. I only found out a few days ago that you'd had the babies. I understand you're angry, and I just wanted to see the children. Nina, it's all Julius's fault. He didn't take good care of you. From now on, the Aurelius family will make it up to you."
Coming from the perpetually arrogant Elena, those words sounded so strange that Janina thought she was hallucinating.
She didn't trust this sudden kindness. There had to be an ulterior motive.
"I see," Janina said with a placid smile. "If you want peace between us, I think the best way to achieve that is by not seeing each other at all."
Elena gritted her teeth, forcing another smile.
"How can you say that? I'm the children's grandmother. They are part of the Aurelius family. Do I need someone's permission to see my own grandchildren? Even though you and Julius are divorced, he is still their father. No one can change that."
Her voice was soft, but the meaning behind her words was clear: Liam and Joy were Aurelius children, and Janina had no right to stop them from visiting.
