Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 538

Life went on as usual. West continued to drive Wendy to and from work every day, but he became quieter, often avoiding her gaze.

Of course, Wendy noticed his unusual behavior.

She didn't dwell on it, though. Everyone has their own troubles to deal with.

Wendy tacitly matched his mood, also speaking less.

And so it went.

Their commutes, once filled with easy conversation about everything and anything, were now steeped in an awkward silence.

West assumed Wendy remembered what she had done to him that drunken night. Their thoughts were on completely different tracks.

This subtle tension, however, was laying the groundwork for the emotional shift that was about to occur between them.

In early October, Janina had to fly to Seacrest for a press conference.

It was three days before she returned to Clayborne City.

Lumine had grown to rival the Nova Group, and some international companies were looking to partner with Meridian. Janina found herself meeting with clients from different countries almost daily.

As her schedule filled up, business trips became unavoidable.

When a woman focuses on her career, her entire being seems to radiate brilliance; even her walk carries an air of purpose.

As she deplaned, Janina's phone rang. She answered it while walking, not paying attention to the person approaching her. By the time she realized a collision was imminent, it was too late.

Thud.

The impact left her head spinning.

She immediately let go of her suitcase and clutched her throbbing forehead.

"Ouch! Watch where you're going..."

"I'm so sorry, so sorry!" the man in front of her apologized profusely.

Janina looked up.

A mature, well-dressed man was looking at her with an apologetic expression.

Janina shook her head. Although she was in pain, it wasn't entirely his fault. If she had been paying more attention, she could have avoided the collision.
