The impacts left Yvonne seeing stars, her vision turning black. Tears blurred her eyes. She blinked hard to clear her vision, only to see Julius's twisted, hateful face. She searched his expression for a trace of the old affection, of pity. But there was none. Only hatred.
She wanted to scream for help, but her mouth was gagged, and only muffled whimpers escaped. She tried to raise her hand to pull the towel from her mouth, but the moment she moved, Julius's large hand clamped down on her arm.
With a savage jerk, Julius wrenched both her arms behind her back. He grabbed a baby's onesie from nearby and used it to tie her hands together. Hands bound, mouth gagged, Yvonne was now a lamb to the slaughter.
Like a crazed beast, Julius roughly shoved her to the floor. His furious eyes were bloodshot. He wanted to tear her apart piece by piece. But he couldn't. Letting her die so easily would be too merciful.
Yvonne was truly terrified now. The gentle, obedient, loving Julius was gone, replaced by a rabid animal tearing at her flesh. The pain, both physical and emotional, was so intense it left her numb. She still couldn't believe he would do this to her. But the reality was, he was beating her.
Disheveled and desperate, Yvonne ignored her pain and began to squirm on the floor, trying to crawl toward the door. If the bodyguards outside heard the commotion, they would surely rush in to save her.
At this moment, she was filled with regret. She regretted not listening to Elena. When she first moved into The Majestic, Elena had warned her not to see anyone, to be wary of everyone. Elena had said that once the scandal died down, she would take her abroad for a while before returning to Clayborne City. She had specifically warned her not to see Julius.
At the time, Yvonne had thought Elena was overreacting. Julius treated her differently than anyone else. After Janina had publicly exposed her deeds on that big screen, Julius hadn't lashed out at her, had he? To her, that meant she was still the most important person in his heart. She had naively believed that time was the best medicine, that all she had to do was coax him a little, and he would go back to loving her as he always had.
