Once Isabella finished talking, she turned to leave. Immediately, York’s bodyguards stepped in, blocking her way. Company security and her own bodyguards rushed over in response.

Isabella looked back at York. He didn’t move, didn’t even glance her way. He just lifted his hand slightly, signaling for his guards to stand down and let her go.

He never really meant to invite her to dinner anyway. The whole thing was just for show, something he wanted people to gossip about, hoping it would reach the Carter Family and chip away at their good opinion of Isabella. He was also curious, trying to figure out if Isabella really was the person he suspected she had become.

York’s bodyguards stepped aside.

Isabella told the security team to get back to work. With her own bodyguards by her side, she walked to her car, climbed in, and drove away without looking back.

After she left, York finally turned around. He dropped the bouquet he’d brought right outside her company’s door, went back to his car, and told his driver, “Let’s go.”

A few minutes later, York’s convoy pulled out, the bodyguard vehicles circling his car as they left Isabella’s company behind.

As soon as he was gone, a security guard came out, stomped on the discarded flowers a couple of times, then tossed them in the trash.

Isabella and Laura had picked a random diner on their street for lunch, just wanting something easy and quick. Halfway through their meal, Laura’s phone rang—the shop manager was calling.

“Boss, it’s Natalie—she showed up at the shop with Isabella’s relatives, and they’re smashing up the place. They didn’t even say why, they just barged in and started wrecking everything!” The manager’s voice was shaky, trying to explain over all the noise.
