Cynthia learned about a lot of things through Susan.
Susan's primary goal was to butter up Ethan's former mother-in-law, hoping to pave the way for Ethan to eventually win back his ex-wife.
When Susan found out Isabella had formally accepted Harold's confession, she had been depressed for days. Her heart completely ached for Ethan.
But she couldn't bring herself to blame Isabella.
After all, Ethan was the one who had thrown his wife away. Even if he was drowning in regret now, Isabella's heart had been shattered too completely to ever return to his side.
It was a tragedy of timing. They had shared a bond, but not enough destiny to last a lifetime.
"Why haven't you gone upstairs to rest?"
"I was waiting for you. I wanted to tell you something."
Cynthia walked over and sat down right next to her daughter. "What is it? Did your grandparents go looking for trouble again?"
"Yeah. They showed up at the cafe today and completely trashed the place. A bunch of tables and chairs were smashed. Natalie paid them in cash to go in and break everything."
Isabella remembered her aunt explicitly confirming that Natalie had handed out cash to incite the violence.
Without the money, those relatives would never have been stupid enough to escalate their feud with her this drastically.
"Did you call the police?"
"I did. But they only took my grandparents away. Natalie's parents showed up and took her home."
Cynthia gritted her teeth in fury. "She just hides behind her family's money and power. She thinks she can do whatever she wants!"
Her daughter's entire personality had completely shifted, forged under the immense pressure of a harsh reality. If she didn't grow stronger, she would just get trampled on.
Compared to the soft, enduring daughter she used to be, Cynthia vastly preferred this strong, fiercely resilient version of Isabella who knew exactly how to fight back.
Isabella leaned in, dropping her voice. "Mom, the baby Natalie is carrying might not even be Jordan's."
Cynthia froze in absolute shock. "If it's not Jordan's, then whose is it? Don't tell me it's Ethan's? But Ethan swore he never touched Natalie! He's so desperate to remarry you, he would never make a mistake like that."
Ethan was no longer her son-in-law, but Cynthia had watched him grow up. She believed him. If Ethan said he never slept with Natalie, then he never slept with Natalie.
"Ethan definitely never touched her. As for who the father actually is... who knows? She..."
Isabella leaned close to her mother's ear and whispered the dark truth about how Natalie had been drugged and set up.
