Now that Natalie knew everything, Jordan realized he couldn’t let Malvina stay at the company. The only thing he could do was fire Malvina right away and hope that would calm Natalie down. Honestly, Malvina had just been a fling to him. There were never any real feelings.
Suddenly, Jordan’s phone buzzed with a new social media notification. He glanced at it but didn’t open it right away. He needed to handle the situation in front of him first.
Natalie noticed and gave him a sharp look. “You got a message. Why aren’t you checking it? Is it from your latest fling?”
“It’s not like that, Natalie. Really, it’s not,” Jordan said, fumbling for his phone. He unlocked it and saw a message from the private investigator he’d hired to look into what happened between Natalie and Ethan that night. The investigator had sent him a video.
Jordan tapped on it, not thinking to turn the volume down. Natalie's voice filled the room. At first, her dad and her brother didn’t react. But as the audio played, Natalie’s face went pale. Her father and brother exchanged glances as another voice came through—Ethan’s.
“Turn it off!” Natalie lunged for Jordan’s phone, but her dad was faster. He snatched it out of Jordan’s hand before she could reach it. Gilbert leaned in next to their dad, both watching the video in silence.
“Dad, Gilbert, that’s not real. Someone faked it. Nothing happened between me and Ethan,” Natalie insisted, her voice shaking. She reached for the phone again, but her dad shot her a warning look. She froze, her hand dropping to her side.
Her father and brother watched the whole video without saying a word. When it ended, Fitzgerald set Jordan’s phone down on the coffee table, silent.
Gilbert looked from Natalie to Jordan, completely lost for words. He’d always thought Natalie and Jordan had a happy marriage. At least, that’s what it looked like from the outside. Who would have guessed that Natalie would sneak out in the middle of the night in a sexy outfit, go straight to Ethan, and throw herself at him—begging him to take her, telling him she wanted to be his?
Ethan had turned her down. And now Jordan had been caught cheating, too. Were these two both just doing their own thing behind each other’s backs?
He looked at her, his voice softening. “Natalie, I’m not blaming you. I know you have feelings for Ethan, too. I’m not saying you don’t love me. It’s just… your love isn’t only for me. Part of it belongs to Ethan. You love us both.”
“When I let you down, you run to Ethan. You treat him like your backup, like he’ll always be there for you, always waiting, always putting you first.”
“Natalie, I forgive you. Can you forgive me, too? Can we just pretend none of this happened and move on with our lives?”
Now that Jordan finally had something to hold over her, all he wanted was to put this mess behind them.
