Harold’s guys had only uncovered one thing: York might have some shady connections.
“He came to Cabinda for ‘business,’ or so he says. But he’s met with a bunch of executives, gone out for dinners, and still hasn’t closed a single deal. He never even started a company. No one can figure out what he really wants.”
“He’s targeting you... but I’m sure you two have never met before.”
Harold was positive Isabella and York had never crossed paths.
“Never,” Isabella said without hesitation. Even in her previous life, York was a complete stranger.
That’s what made it so confusing. Why was he so fixated on her? What did he want?

After ending the call, York rolled a small antique between his fingers. His voice was calm as he told the man in black beside him, “Isabella’s with Harold. Wait until they’re heading home. That’s when you’ll make your move. Teach Isabella a lesson.”
“No need to kill her. Just rough her up a bit. She clearly doesn’t know when to quit.”
“And since Ethan’s out of town, this is the perfect chance. Find a way to get rid of him.”
With Ethan, York wasn’t interested in games. He wanted to take him out for good, no warnings, no second chances.
The man in black spoke quietly. “Should I arrange an accident, or just go straight for him?”
“Straight for him. Use a silencer. Ethan’s tough, so up close won’t be easy, especially since he brought two bodyguards with him, and they’re both experts.”
The man nodded.
York set the antique down. As the man turned to leave, York called him back. He pulled a big yellow envelope from the coffee table drawer and handed it over.
“Send this to Isabella. Make sure it’s anonymous, with the photos inside.”
The man in black took the envelope. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything.”
“And one more thing. Find a flower shop and pay the owner well. I want them to deliver a bouquet to Isabella every single day for me.”
The man looked puzzled. “Are you really into her?”
She was beautiful, no doubt. A rare beauty.
York smirked. “Like her? Not a chance. I just don’t want things between her and Harold to go too smoothly.”
“The Carter family elders are more reasonable than the Adams family’s, but if Isabella can’t stay away from me and still has things going on with Ethan, do you really think the Carters will accept a divorced woman like her?”
The man’s eyes lit up. He finally got what York was planning.
