After taking a deep breath and calming herself, Isabella finally picked up her phone to check the time.
It was just past six in the morning. Usually, she wouldn’t even be awake for another half hour.
She was up early today.
Since she was already awake, there was no point in trying to go back to sleep. She washed up, slipped into her workout clothes, and headed out for a morning run.
The neighborhood was so quiet at this hour. Every now and then, Isabella passed by one or two other early risers jogging along the empty streets. Nobody really knew each other, so she didn’t say hello. If anything, they just glanced her way for a moment before moving on.
Her phone started ringing.
It was Laura.
“Hey Laura, morning,” Isabella said, slowing down to a walk so she could talk more easily.
“Isabella, you have to check the trending topics right now, like, right this second. You’re all over them. Your relatives from back home posted everything about you turning them away, refusing to help your grandparents, not paying for your grandma’s treatment. I have no idea who helped them, but somehow it’s all over the city’s hot search.”
“And that’s not even the worst part. Weren’t you with Harold last night? Someone snapped photos of you two holding hands and looking super close. That’s trending too, and the comments are just brutal. I’m pretty sure there are tons of trolls—they’re all just tearing you up.”
“They’re calling you all sorts of names, saying you were flirting with Harold before you even divorced Ethan. They claim you already had your next guy lined up, and that’s why you rushed the divorce. Some people say you use your looks to seduce every man you meet, that you’ve got a string of guys falling at your feet. There’s even talk that the male leads our company made famous only got their shot because they slept with you.”
