Alpha's Private Plaything (Elsa and Drake Stone) novel Chapter 71

Chapter 71

Drake’s growl was low and dangerous, vibrating through the room. His scent shifted, becoming sharper with aggression. Despite myself,

my body responded to that sound, my inner wolf recognizing the claim of an Alpha. Traitor, I cursed my own instincts.

“I’ve been watching her for years,” Jason continued, ignoring Drake’s obvious anger. “She’s smart, loyal, hardworking. The perfect wife

material.”

Wife material. Like I’m a fucking bolt of fabric to be measured and cut to their specifications. Rage bubbled up my throat.

“We barely know each other,” I protested, certain Jason was just stirring trouble for his own amusement.

Mrs. Black patted my arm condescendingly. “Oh, darling, that’s how it often works in our world. The mating comes first, the feelings

develop later.”

Your world, not mine, I thought bitterly. I’m just trapped in it.

To my utter disbelief, Marcus stepped forward, his expression calculating.

“I think it’s an excellent match,” he announced, his eyes flickering to Drake’s rigid form. “Someone is too blind to recognize a true mate

when she’s right in front of them.”

The barb hit its target. Drake’s hands clenched into fists at his sides. I could smell his rage from across the room, hot and sharp like

burning metal.

“In fact,” Marcus continued smoothly, “I’d be honored to host the wedding myself. We’ll give Elsa the celebration she deserves.”

Jason beamed. “We could announce our engagement at the next business summit. Make it official in front of both packs.”

Enough of this bullshit. This had gone far enough. I stepped away from Jason, moving toward the door. Before I could escape, Drake’s

hand shot out, his fingers circling my wrist in an iron grip. His eyes were molten gold with fury as he glared at Jason.

“Taking what’s mine, Jason?” Drake’s voice was deadly quiet.

Yours? My blood boiled. YOURS?

“Yours?” Marcus scoffed, echoing my thoughts. “You just declared you’d never mate her. Why so territorial now?”

Drake ignored his father, his grip tightening on my wrist until I could feel my pulse throbbing against his fingers. “Elsa is my assistant.

Her personal and professional decisions require my approval.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. After keeping me his dirty secret, after declaring he’d never formally acknowledge me, he had the

audacity to claim ownership? Fuck, That.

Chapter 71

Drake shoved Jason back, his voice dropping to a threatening rumble. “Back off, Jason. I mean it.”

I wrenched my arm from Drake’s grasp, rage boiling through me like lava. “Actually, Jason, I’m flattered by your interest, but we don’t even qualify as friends. I’m not looking for a relationship right now.”

I turned to face Drake, my fury giving me courage. “And you-I signed an employment contract with Stone Industries, not a lifetime

servitude agreement. My personal life is my own.”

The room fell silent. Even Vera looked shocked at my defiance. Good. Let them all see I’m not just some docile Omega they can pass

around.

‘I’m an Omega, not an object,” I continued, my voice gaining strength with every word. “I have the right to choose my own path, make my

own decisions. None of you get to decide my future for me.”

Without waiting for a response, I turned and walked out, my head held high despite the tears threatening to spill. I could feel every eye in the ballroom on me as I crossed the floor, my anger and determination palpable to every wolf present.

Outside, I climbed into the first taxi I saw, hands trembling with adrenaline.

“Rough night?” the driver asked, eyeing me in the rearview mirror.

I didn’t answer, my mind replaying Drake’s words: “I have no intention of formally mating with an Omega.”
