Chapter 1031
She gave a shy hod, quietly agreeing.
Kenneth’s lips curved into a pleased smile, his steps toward the bedroom suddenly lighter.
That old saying–nothing lifts the spirit like a stroke of good fortune–couldn’t have been more fitting for
him in that moment.
While the two of them were basking in satisfaction, over at the hospital, Joseph was storming with
frustration.
With a single slap, he knocked the tray of food off the table, sending it crashing to the floor
He had heard the impatience in Judy’s voice, no doubt about it. He just didn’t want to admit it.
His emotions spiraled–from sullen to furious,
Where had it all gone wrong?
Everything used to be so good. Judy had always been on his side.
He used to turn to her first for anything, and she would always be there.
But now, her mind seemed to be somewhere else entirely.
Joseph sprang out of bed, ripping out the IV, ready to storm out.
The moment his feet touched the ground, a sharp pain sliced through his head.
Clutching his temples, he fell back onto the bed.
The clarity he’d had just moments before dissolved into a blur.
He writhed on the mattress, gripping his head as if two versions of himself were locked in battle inside
his skull.
At that moment, Aurora appeared in the doorway, holding a bag in her hand. She raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
“Is he… starting to come back to his senses?”
Lucas gave a small nod. “Looks like it. It was just a mild concussion, after all.”
Aurora nodded slightly and said nothing more.
Whether Joseph was regaining his memory or not didn’t concern her.
This whole mess had been his doing.

Seeing that he seemed stable enough, she placed the bag down and turned to leave.

Lucas looked a little puzzled. “You’ve come all the way to the door. You’re not going in to see him?”
Aurora shook her head. “No need. I just needed to be sure he’d wake up.
“I don’t want anything to do with him anymore–not in this life or the next,”
Lucas was briefly stunned, then a satisfied smile tugged at his lips.
He stepped closer and casually wrapped an arm around her waist. “Aurora, I love this strong, independent side of you.”
