He hadn’t expected things to unfold this way. 

Could it really be that nowadays, even when someone did a good deed, they were suspected of having ulterior motives? No wonder people were less willing to help others these days. 

What he didn’t realize was that Leonard’s suspicion hadn’t been wrong at all. 

In the end, Leonard hailed a cab from the roadside, stopped at the florist he’d chosen in advance, bought a bouquet, and hurried over. 

By chance, because Aurora had been delayed by the black–clad reporter, she finished later than expected, and the two ran right into each other. 

Snapping back to the present, Leonard smiled at Aurora. “It’s fine. I just had a little accident on the way.” 

Aurora’s concern showed–after all, they were friends. 

“You’re really alright?” 

Leonard shook his head, assuring her it was nothing. 

But Megan’s sharp eyes caught the scrape on his arm. 

In an instant, she stepped forward, grabbed his arm, and inspected it closely, her tone carrying a hint of scolding. 

“Look at you, claiming you’re fine. Then what’s this on your arm? Don’t tell me you got into some kind of accident on the way here?” 

Though she said it playfully, Aurora noticed something off. 

Normally, Megan never wore her emotions on her sleeve. This was the first time Aurora had seen her so openly worried about someone. 

Leonard was equally startled by her reaction. He froze for a long moment before stammering, “I–It’s nothing. You don’t need to be so worked up. I’m really fine.” 

“Still insisting you’re fine?” Megan suddenly snapped, her tone sharp. “Look at your arm, it’s badly scraped. Do you even care about yourself? You’re a grown man, yet you make others worry for you!” 

Aurora chimed in from the side. “She’s right. This is the first time I’ve ever seen Megan fuss over someone like this.”
