“Lucas, I didn’t ask to see you for anything else. I just wanted to remind you, since you’re already with my daughter, please treat her well. She’s the treasure I’ve held in my hands since she was little.”

As Grace spoke, her eyes shimmered with tears.

Lucas said nothing.

Watching her put on such a performance, he almost found it amusing. “Mom, I couldn’t help wondering–did you manage to say that with a straight face?”

Grace and Tessa exchanged a puzzled glance, neither quite understanding what he meant.

In the end, Grace forced an awkward smile. “Lucas, if you have something to say, just say it directly. I’m not sure what you mean

with all these roundabout words.”

“Do you really not understand, or are you pretending not to?” Lucas asked bluntly.

“You know exactly how you’ve treated Aurora. You have two daughters, but you favor one and neglect the other. Don’t you think that’s wrong?”

“Both of my daughters are my flesh and blood. How could I possibly neglect one of them?” Grace retorted irritably.

But Lucas had his own view. “The reason I agreed to come here and talk with you today is because I’ve already investigated everything. I have evidence. So, denying it won’t help you.”

Grace’s anger flared. “No matter what, I’m still your mother–in–law. Do you really think it’s appropriate to talk to me like this?”

Lucas let out a cold laugh and rose to his feet, towering over her. “Even if you are my mother–in–law, Aurora will always come

first.

“I came here to hear what you wanted to say. As for everything else, I don’t care to discuss it, and don’t try to play emotional games with me.”

Tessa shot Grace a quick look, and Grace immediately understood.

Forcing herself to stay calm, she said, “Lucas, I’m your mother–in–law and Aurora’s biological mother. I just think you should consider her feelings when you talk to me. If she gets caught in the middle, you’ll feel bad too, won’t you?”

Hearing that, Lucas’s expression softened slightly. He had to admit, Grace did have a point.

In the end, he didn’t speak, only watched Grace quietly, waiting to see what she truly wanted to say.

Seeing that he had finally calmed down, Grace let out a small sigh of relief. “So, can we sit down and have a calm conversation

now?”

Hearing that, Lucas replayed her earlier words in his mind before finally taking a seat. “My time is limited. If you want to talk, you’d better get to the point.”

Tessa quickly poured him a glass of water. “You should have some water first.”

Lucas only glanced at it without a word.
