Aurora stared at the blank screen after the call ended, her brows narrowing slightly.

Something still didn’t feel right. Leonard was in the hospital, so why did Megan sound so flustered? Since when did she get anxious so easily?

Megan had always been carefree, even a little sloppy at times, but she was never the type to meddle in other people’s business.

That much Aurora was sure of. Which was exactly why this felt off. Their relationship had always been casual at best, yet now Megan seemed unusually involved.

Still uneasy, Aurora decided to call Megan’s parents.

To her surprise, they already knew that Megan was at the hospital taking care of Leonard.

Hearing that, Aurora’s suspicion eased. “Alright then, I won’t bother you any further.”

Eleanor’s warm voice came through the line. “Aurora, don’t mind that girl, she’s always been a bit scatterbrained. If she forgot to tell you she was taking the day off, please don’t hold it against her.”

Aurora felt a bit embarrassed hearing that. Honestly, Megan hadn’t done anything particularly wrong. In fact, compared to before, she’d grown quite a bit. Eleanor was just worrying too much.

“Mrs. Quinn, don’t worry,” Aurora said sincerely. “Megan’s been doing really well lately. I only called because I wasn’t sure if you knew about Leonard’s accident.”

“Oh, yes, both her father and I know,” Eleanor replied quickly. “I thought you were calling because she skipped work today. That had me worried for a moment.”

Aurora let out a soft breath. “No, nothing like that. As long as you’re aware of what’s going on with her and Leonard, then everything’s fine. I’m sure Megan knows what she’s doing.”

“That’s good to hear,” Eleanor said in relief. “If anything comes up, please let us know right away.”

“I will,” Aurora assured her gently.

“You don’t have to worry about her. She’s really matured since joining the studio, and I trust her completely. I just didn’t know about Leonard’s accident today, so I wanted to check with you.‘

Aurora smiled and said gently, “As long as you’re aware of the situation, that’s all that matters. Everything else isn’t important.”

“That’s good to hear,” Eleanor replied, her tone softening before a faint sigh slipped out.

“Honestly, Leonard’s been through a lot. He’s a pitiful child in many ways, so when Megan wanted to visit him, we didn’t stop her.”
