The bitterness in Wendy’s chest grew heavier.
If Judy had never come into their lives, nothing would’ve changed.
Her brother’s attention would still be on her, like it used to be.
“You gold-digging witch!” Wendy snapped. “You spend our family’s money, live under our roof, and still act like you’re doing us a favor!”
She lifted her hand, fury blazing in her eyes. “One day, I’ll throw you out of here and make my brother see who you really are!”
Just as her hand was about to strike, Kenneth caught her wrist midair, gripping it tight.
“That’s enough!” he barked.
Then, without another word, his palm came down hard across her face.
The sharp crack echoed through the living room.
He hadn’t held back.
Judy simply raised a brow, unfazed.
She wasn’t surprised.
Kenneth had always stood up for her.
After all this time together, she knew exactly what kind of man he was.
That was why she’d chosen to stay by his side.
Because when problems came up, he didn’t just explode; he listened and reasoned.
“She’s your future sister-in-law; don’t forget that.”
“She is not!” Wendy shouted back.
“You’re brainwashed. I don’t buy your ‘future sister-in-law’ nonsense; it’s all in your head.”
She laughed scornfully. “I showed you the proof today. She’s still tangled up with her ex. You saw the video, but you still don’t believe me, and you dare hit me?
“You must be crazy. Are you possessed by something unclean?”
Kenneth’s anger flared. He raised his hand again, as if to strike Wendy another time.
But Wendy leaned forward, taunting, “So are you going to hit me again? Go ahead, let’s see what you’ll do to me. No matter how you beat me, I’ll still say what I’m saying.”
She glared viciously at Judy. “My brother hit me because of you. Are you satisfied now?”
