If it weren’t for him, Judy wouldn’t have left.
Maybe she had already been thinking about it for a while, but there was no denying he’d handled things badly.
Before, all his attention had been tied to Aurora, but things were different now.
And if Yvonne managed to find Judy, it meant she had definitely investigated him thoroughly.
Seeing how furious he was only confirmed to her that she’d guessed right.
That realization made her even more pleased.
“Look at you, why are you so worked up?”
His frustration simmered. “What exactly are you trying to do?”
“What I choose to do is my business.”
Her smile deepened. “But I can tell you this—I’ll definitely be able to help you.”
He didn’t understand what she could possibly offer.
“We’ve met twice. Why should I trust you?”
“Because I know what you want right now.”
That caught his interest. “Oh? Then tell me, what do I want?”
He was genuinely curious. A woman he barely knew claimed to understand what was on his mind?
How could he believe that?
Anyone would think it was absurd.
Even his own parents, who had raised him, didn’t always know what he wanted, so how could she possibly know?
Part of him wanted to satisfy his curiosity.
Another part wanted to see whether she could actually say something that made sense.
He moved closer and closer, his gaze turning sharp and venomous, like a snake ready to strike.
“Or do you not understand what I’m saying?”
For a moment, his intensity startled her.
“How could that be? I came here because I want to work with you, and I brought all the sincerity I have.”
He was just about to reject her again when she suddenly covered his mouth with her hand.
“Don’t talk yet. Listen to what I have to say first.”
Seeing how determined she looked, he held back from pushing her away.
After all, she had come all the way to find him, and she was still a woman. He could at least hear her out.
And from the first moment she confronted him, she had already shown she understood him far better than expected.
Joseph wasn’t foolish either; he had also looked into who she was.
