“Then tell me, are you planning to drag Miss Aurora down with you for the rest of her life?”
Grace froze, unable to grasp his meaning.
“What are you talking about? Why would I drag her down?”
She truly didn’t understand what Arnold was trying to say.
Aurora was her daughter. Why wouldn’t she stay connected to her own child?
Was he implying she and Aurora should cut ties and never speak again?
Grace found the idea ridiculous.
She would never sever ties with her own daughter.
Now that she finally knew Tessa’s true colors, she valued Aurora even more. Aurora had always treated her with genuine sincerity.
She still knew right from wrong, and she knew who had stood by her.
How could she ever choose Tessa over Aurora again?
Arnold felt a dull ache in his chest at her response.
Some truths needed to be spoken, even if they hurt.
And what he was about to say wasn’t polite, but it had to be said.
He drew in a steady breath.
“Do you not realize how terrible your behavior has been?”
“What do you mean?”
Grace let out a cold huff.
“How is it terrible? She’s my daughter. Do I need your permission to decide how I treat her?”
Her frustration was obvious.
But Arnold didn’t back down. Even if she fired him today, he was determined to make things clear.
