It was not something that happened once or twice. From childhood to adulthood, her mother always treated her this way.
She was always biased and siding with Tessa no matter the situation.
So, Aurora gradually learned to step aside.
But things were different now. Aurora had Lucas’ devotion, and with that, her mother’s matters no longer had to take center stage.
Thinking of this, Aurora let out a soft sigh. “Mom, I still have things to take care of.
“As for the banquet, I don’t think I ruined it. After all, I helped our family root out a parasite.”
Hearing that word, Tessa, still lying on the floor, stirred in agitation.
Before she could say anything, the security guards—quick to read the room—stepped in and escorted her out.
After this incident, it was clear that Tessa had completely fallen from grace.
Lucas moved to Aurora’s side, took her hand, and said gently, “It’s late. Let’s head back.”
“Alright. Mom, we’ll be leaving first.”
The second part was clearly directed at Grace.
Despite the resentment still lingering in her heart, the matter had come to an end.
After all, Tessa had no way of turning things around anymore.
Still, Grace was left with no one beside her, utterly alone.
Thinking of that, Aurora could not quite put her feelings into words.
It felt like nothing more than cause and effect.
If Tessa had not colluded with her biological father, perhaps none of this would have happened.
Grace watched the retreating figures of Aurora and Lucas, tears slowly sliding down her face.
She understood now that her past decisions had driven a wedge between herself and Aurora.
And even though Aurora was the one who exposed everything Tessa had done, Grace could not blame her.
