Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 500

“I guess it’s a bit of both,” Cindy said, her tone casual. “Anyway, it’s done, so why overthink it?” Rebecca knew Cindy had always been the type to go with the flow, never the kind to make herself miserable. She could tell Cindy and Jon seemed genuinely happy together, so she didn’t bother asking more.

“Oh, and don’t tell my brother about this yet,” Cindy added, suddenly hesitant. “I haven’t figured out how to bring it up to them.”

She paused, realizing her words didn’t really matter anymore. Rebecca and Stephen had already broken up. Cindy still thought it was a shame, but she wasn’t about to push or give Rebecca any false hope. Rebecca was amazing, after all. Why should she settle for a guy who already had a kid before marriage? There were so many better options out there.

Cindy smirked. “Jon’s got a couple of friends from grad school who just came back from overseas. Want me to introduce you?”

Rebecca blinked. “You’re setting me up?”

“Just think of it as meeting new people,” Cindy said. “I already checked them out for you. They look good, have decent families, and the best part is they all work in tech. If you hit it off, you’ll actually have something to talk about. Not like my brother, who only ever talks about business. So dull.”

Up on the top floor, Stephen was deep in paperwork when he suddenly sneezed. Was the AC too cold today? He quietly got up and put on his jacket.

Rebecca couldn’t help but laugh. “No, thanks. I’m done with guys for now. School’s about to start again and I’ll be busy. I don’t have time for any of this.”

Seeing she really wasn’t interested, Cindy let it go.

The next day was a day off. Rebecca had planned to sleep in, maybe until noon, but her mom, Samantha, had other ideas and woke her up at the crack of dawn.

“Mom, why are you waking me up so early? You want me to go grocery shopping with you?” Rebecca yawned, rubbing her eyes. “You know you can just order groceries online. I can do it right from my phone.”

Samantha swatted her hand away. “Groceries online aren’t fresh. We have to go to the market.”

She nudged Rebecca toward the bathroom. “Go get freshened up. And do it properly this time.”

Rebecca couldn’t help but laugh. “When do I ever not do it properly?”
