“I’m fine, but Darren…”
Before Natalie could finish, Angela Everhart rushed over, her eyes widening as she pointed a manicured finger at Natalie’s throat. “My God, Natalie. Is that a hickey? Did you and your ex decide to pass the time by getting reacquainted in the dirt?”
Were you and your ex-husband getting busy down there? You two really know how to have fun! And here Terence was, so worried when he couldn’t find you. It looks like you were just ignoring his calls and pretending to be missing on purpose.”
Only then did everyone else notice the marks on Natalie’s neck. Terence’s expression instantly turned grim.
“Miss Everhart, did you go abroad to major in slander?”
Natalie’s cold retort left Angela fuming.
“What did you say? I’m an Ivy League graduate. I have the looks and the talent.”
“If that’s the case, then don’t lower yourself by making baseless accusations.”
Angela shot back angrily, “Terence, look at her! Can those hickeys on her neck be fake? And you were so worried about her… while she was just having a good time!”
Terence’s face grew even darker.
“Angela, can’t you shut your mouth? Or do I need to have someone sew it shut for you?”
Angela was shocked that Terence was still defending Natalie even with hickeys on her neck. What was so special about her?
“Terence, the evidence is right in front of us. Don’t the hickeys on her neck say everything? Her lover is still down in that hole… oh wait, not her lover, her ex-husband.”
Angela turned to Natalie, her voice dripping with sarcastic triumph. “An ex-husband is different, isn’t he? So experienced. I bet you two picked up right where you left off, huh?”
Terence said coldly, “Throw her in.”
Angela froze, completely stunned.
