Darren figured that if he kept calling Natalie his wife, the staff would just think he was pathetic.
She wouldn’t even stay to look at him once before leaving.
Just then, Angela arrived.
“Nice kissing skills. Those hickeys are so bright and red. I’ve already had someone take pictures. Tomorrow’s front page will be you two, passionately kissing in a cave. The press will eat it up!”
Darren was in low spirits and paid no attention to her cheerful gloating.
Angela was getting furious. She had barely managed to get out of that hole and had come straight here to see him, and he was giving her the cold shoulder.
Had he forgotten their arrangement?
“Hey, that’s pretty rude. I meticulously planned this whole thing for you—the two of you trapped alone in the dark, the sexual tension building. If it weren’t for that, would you have even had the chance to kiss her? Shouldn’t you be thanking me?”
So, the fact that Natalie and Darren fell into the hole was all part of Angela’s plan.
“I never should have cooperated with you. I almost died!”
Angela sat down next to Darren. “Tell me, how did you get bitten? Did the snake just bite you, or was it going for Natalie, and you played the hero?”
Darren didn’t want to indulge Angela’s gossip.
“What’s it to you?”
“Do you want to win Natalie back or not? Have you forgotten our partnership? If you keep being this stubborn and uncooperative, you’ll lose me as an ally, and then you’ll really never get her back.”
Angela’s pestering was giving Darren a headache.
“I saved Natalie.”
