After tasting it, Natalie felt her melancholy deepen.
It was too good. The thought of not being able to eat this again was genuinely heartbreaking.
Seeing her expression, Terence grew worried. “You don’t like the food today? Tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll make something else for you.”
Terence started to head for the kitchen but was stopped when Natalie grabbed his arm. “It’s not that it’s bad,” she said. “It’s just… it’s too good. What will I do if I can’t have it anymore in the future?”
Lucas and Liana were his children, after all. They could eat his food in the future. But Natalie felt she was different. She had no real ties to them. If one day they parted ways, that would be it. She would never get to eat Terence's cooking again, a taste she would miss for the rest of her life.
Terence looked at Natalie. Was she trying to say she couldn't bear to leave him?
Just then, Natalie felt Terence’s gaze grow deep and affectionate. He said, “Don’t worry. I won’t leave you.”
Natalie froze. What was he saying?
She suddenly realized her words might have given him the wrong impression.
“Terence, that’s not what I meant. I…” she stammered awkwardly.
Just then, Lucas teased, “Oh, so Natalie doesn’t want to leave Daddy. If you leave Daddy, you won’t get to eat all this delicious food anymore.”
Liana nodded furiously beside him.
Natalie’s embarrassment intensified. Her words really had been easy to misinterpret. But Terence’s cooking was truly incredible; it felt like she could never be happy again if she couldn't eat it.
How could she possibly explain herself now? Watching Natalie’s flustered expression, caught between wanting to explain and not knowing how, Terence, Lucas, and Liana all found it quite amusing.
The rest of the meal was filled with happiness.

The next day.
Terence held his phone, his face dark. “Terminate all cooperation between Aurelius Dominion Group and the Everhart Group.”
