“After we pick up Hanley, I'll take you to the hospital to get checked out.”
“I’m fine.”
They soon arrived at Hanley’s home.
This was the house they were renting. Darren had secured funding, but he hadn't bought back the Cross Group's mansion and was still renting.
“Which apartment is he in?”
“Second floor, 203.”
When they reached the door, Natalie knocked.
Just then, they heard Hanley's heart-wrenching scream.
“Mommy, Mommy, help me!”
Natalie realized Hanley was calling for her, and his voice was filled with terror.
She pounded on the door anxiously.
“Hanley! Hanley, open the door!”
Only then did Hanley realize it was his mother.
He started to crawl toward the door, but the snake was still staring at him, and he didn't dare move.
“Mommy, help me!”
Natalie panicked, slamming her fists against the door, but she wasn't strong enough to break it down.
What could she do? She didn't know what was happening inside, but it was obvious Hanley was in danger. That primal maternal instinct flared within her, and Natalie’s heart hammered against her ribs in a frantic rhythm of fear.
But there was nothing she could do right now.
What now? A locksmith. I need a locksmith.
Natalie was frantically searching for a locksmith's number on her phone when she saw Terence suddenly stand up. He slammed his body against the door. Natalie was stunned—Terence could stand. He hit the door once without success and then did it again.
