Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 113

Sabina sneered, utterly unbothered. "So what if I said you're just trying to land yourself a sugar daddy? Miss Winthrop was right—there are always shameless women like you throwing themselves at men—"

She didn't finish her sentence before Charlotte's hand whipped across her face, the slap sharp and decisive.

Everyone nearby turned, drawn by the commotion.

Sabina froze, stunned for a moment. When she snapped back to reality, her anger flared. She raised her hand, ready to strike back.

Charlotte caught Sabina's wrist mid-air and delivered another slap, even harder, sending Sabina stumbling sideways.

"You dare hit me!" Sabina shrieked, her face flushed red, clutching her cheek. "Security! Somebody call security!"

It didn't take long for the company's security guards to arrive.

Sabina jabbed a finger at Charlotte. "She's causing trouble at work—she assaulted me! What are you waiting for? Get her out of here and call the cops!"

Charlotte's voice was cold but steady. "Everyone saw what happened. You started it, insulting me for no reason. I only hit you because you wouldn't stop. I'm here to see Mr. Howard on business, but just because I'm a woman, you feel free to slander my reputation. Aren't you ashamed, tearing down another woman like that?"

She turned to address the crowd, her tone icy. "Or is this the official attitude at Howard Enterprises now? Any woman who walks through the door gets verbally abused, is that it?"

A ripple of discomfort ran through the women in the room as they eyed Sabina with a new, complicated expression.

"What's her problem? Isn't she a woman herself?"

"Starting rumors like that—disgusting."

Sabina's face had gone pale, her confidence faltering. "Y-you're twisting my words! You shouldn't be here without an appointment!"

"My lack of an appointment doesn't give you the right to spread filthy rumors about me." Charlotte calmly pulled out her phone. "I didn't want to call Mr. Howard myself, but since you've made such a scene, I guess I have no choice."

At the reception desk, staff exchanged startled looks.

She actually has Mr. Howard's number?

Could she really know him?

Sabina stiffened. She'd worked here for six, nearly seven years. She'd seen plenty of women come looking for Mr. Howard, but she'd never seen Charlotte before. She must be bluffing.

Sabina snorted. "Go ahead and call. There's no way you actually know Mr. Howard."

Charlotte dialed. The call rang and rang with no answer, then went straight to voicemail.

She tried again. Still no luck—the line was busy.
